HOW TO MOUNT USING PRESSURE-SENSITIVE DECAL POUCH FILM AND MOUNT BOARD OR OTHER SUBSTRATE
How To Mount Using Pressure-Sensitive Decal Pouch Film and Mount Board or Other Substrate
Pressure-Sensitive Decal Pouch Film :: Pouch Machine then Manual or Roll Laminating Machines - Heated Roller or Cold

These instructions are designed for mounting in a two step process using pressure-sensitive decal pouch film and a pouch laminator then mounting with or without a Heated Roller Roll Laminating/Mounting Machine or Cold Roll Laminating Machine.

Step 1: Laminate image using Pressure-Sensitive Decal Pouch Film and a Pouch Laminator.

  1. Start by carefully removing the pressure-sensitive decal pouch film from the box. Bottom of pouch will have release liner. DO NOT remove release liner.
  2. Gently lift laminate film and center image in pouch. Release liner side should be down. Lay film back down over image.
  3. Place pouch with image inside appropriately-sized pouch film carrier. The carrier prevents adhesive from squeezing out from between the laminate film and getting on the laminator rollers.
NOTE: For heated-roller pouch machines, place pouch with image on pouch sledso image will lay flat and not wrap around rollers when passing through machine.
  4. Ensure pouch laminator has reached appropriate temperature. If appropriate, rotate rollers to ensure even heating.
  5. Slowly insert pouch carrier/sled into roller opening. Ensure pouch film is centered and straight within carrier or on sled. A gentle push may be required to get carrier/sled started between the rollers. Hold edges of pouch film carrier or image and sled tightly until rollers have grabbed. This will prevent film from slipping out of carrier or shifting on sled.
  6. Pouch carrier/sled will feed through the laminator and automatically exit the back of the laminating machine.
CAUTION: Pouch carrier/sled and film will be HOT!
  7. Allow carrier/sled and film to cool completely on a flat surface to help prevent warping.

Step 2: Mount to substrate (foam mounting board or other)

Mount - Manual:

These instructions are designed to mount an image using pressure-sensitive decal pouch filmto a mount board without using a laminating machine.

  1. Start by carefully removing the board from the box.
  2. Flip image over so release liner is face up. Peel release paper back about 1/2" and fold back against back of image, leaving 1/2" sticky area exposed.
  3. Place mount board on a flat surface.
  4. Gently place print (sticky area down) into desired position on top of the mount board. Gently allow the adhesive to come into contact with the board, pressing from center toward outside edges of board.
  5. Gradually pull back release liner from under print. Allow the remainder of the print to come smoothly into contact with the board. Gently smooth print down board with soft cloth removing any air bubbles and wrinkles until print is completely mounted and release liner is removed entirely.

Mount - Roll Laminating Machine (Heated Roller or Cold):

To mount an image laminated with pressure-sensitive decal pouch film to a mount board, laminating film must NOT be threaded on the laminating/mounting machine and any heat should be shut off.

  5. Adjust roller or set nip pressure setting to thickness of the board being used (ex. 3/16", 1/4", 1/2", etc.)
Note: Some laminators have fixed pressure settings - follow recommendations in operations manual.
  1. Slowly insert board into roller opening.  Ensure board and image are centered and straight.  A gentle push may be required to get board started between the rollers.
  2. As board moves through machine, gradually pull back release liner from under print.  Rollers will apply pressure to print and smooth print onto board as it passes through the machine.
  3. Board will feed through the laminator and automatically exit the back of the laminating machine.
