How To Mount Using Foam Mounting Board Foam Mounting Board :: Pouch Laminating Machines - Heated Roller or Platen
These instructions are designed for mounting using dry mount tissue and foam core mounting board (or other substrate without adhesive) with Mounting Pouch Laminators Mounting Pouch Laminators.
Mount Only:
- Start by carefully removing the mount board from the box. Remove protective liner, if applicable.
- Using a clean "sticky" roller, clean board of any dust particles. (Suggested product: Dust Cleaning Roller & Tacky Pad #7178)
- Place mounting board (or other substrate) on a flat surface.
- Carefully cut dry mount tissueto size of print to be mounted. Dry mount tissue is available in rolls or cut sheets.
- Position print to be mounted into desired position on top of tissue on top of mounting board. Align all pieces.
- For heated roller pouch laminators, place cover sheet over top of print before inserting into machine. Make sure to cover board completely so no adhesive is exposed.
For platen pouch laminators, insert print, tissue and board into appropriately-sized pouch board carrier. The carrier prevents adhesive from squeezing out from between print and board and getting on the laminator rollers.
- Adjust roller or set nip pressure setting to thickness of the board being used (ex. 3/16", 1/4", 1/2", etc.) Make sure opening is wider than thickness of board so when inserting board cover sheet does not wrinkle and can be used again.
Note: Some laminators have fixed pressure settings - follow recommendations in operations manual.
- Ensure machine is preheated and has reached recommended or preset temperature setting.
- Rotate rollers to ensure even heating across full roller surface for optimal mounting results, if appropriate.
- Slowly insert board/carrier into roller opening. Insure board, tissue, image and cover sheet are centered and straight. A gentle push may be required to get board/carrier started between the rollers. Hold edges of carrier or board, tissue, image and sheet in place until grabbed by rollers. This will help prevent any shifting in placement.
- Board and cover sheet/carrier will feed through the laminator and automatically exit the back of the laminating machine.
CAUTION: Board will be HOT!
- Allow board to cool completely on a flat surface to help prevent warping.
